Keonjhar: Police here have apprehended Sanjay Mohanty, BJP Yuva Morcha’s Keonjhar District Secretary, in connection with attack bid on PCC president Niranjan Patnaik in Keonjhar yesterday.
The accused, Sanjay Mohanty, has been detained and reportedly being interrogated at the Town Police Station, informed SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra.
However, four other accused, who were involved in the case, have been identified and efforts were on to apprehend them, said the SP.
Worth mentioning, four to five miscreants, allegedly attempted to attack Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Niranjan Patnaik during his one-day visit to Keonjhar on Sunday.
As per reports, the miscreants, who were travelling in an SUV, intercepted the Patnaik’s vehicle near Jagannathpur Chhak and tried to vandalise the car. However, Patnaik’s security personnel and driver alighted from the car and tried to stop them. But they were thrashed by the unknown men who were in an inebriated condition.
Following the incident, PCC president Niranjan Patnaik had lodged an FIR at Keonjhar Town Police Station.
