Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday arrested an assistant section officer (ASO) posted in the office of the Engineer-in- Chief, Bhubaneswar for alleging accepting Rs 8,000 bribe.
The accused has been identified as Dillip Kumar Bisoi. He was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe on the premises of Account Section of the engineer-in-chief’s office.
According to sources, the accused had demanded the bribe from one Jatiranjan Ganapati Dehury, a resident of Karanjiapada under Patna police limits in Keonjhar district.
Dehury had applied for an A- Class contractor licence and the accused had demanded the bribe for issuing the licence. In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station registered a case (12/19) against the accused and he will be forwarded to the court, the vigilance officials said.
The vigilance officials also carried out search at the house of the accused located at E/49/5, Rental Colony, Bhubaneswar. The search was underway till the last report came in, the vigilance officials said.
