Assam flood situation grim, NDRF, SDRF rescue over 2000 marooned people


Dispur: The flood situation in Assam continues to be grim even as NDRF and SDRF teams have rescued over 2000 marooned people.

The number of flood-affected people have doubled from 6 lakh to 12, 97,241.

The NDRF and SDRF personnel are wearing two life jackets. One jacket is meant for protecting them from drowning and the other is the PPE to protect them from the deadly coronavirus.

Reports said the teams are rescuing and reaching out to people of all ages from infants to elderly.

The teams are moving infrared thermometers and check each and every person rescued for any COVID symptoms.

Apart from the NDRF, teams from SDRF, Circle Office and Inland Water Transport have so far rescued 2339 marooned civilians besides providing relief materials.
