Arya Rajendran of Kerala likely to be the youngest Mayor in country

Thiruvananthapuram: A second-year graduate student will be youngest Mayor of prestigious Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. She is Arya Rajendran.

Rajendran is set to become the youngest Mayor of the country. The ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) of Kerala has decided to elect Rajendran as the Mayor of the prestigious corporation.

The decision was taken by the CPI (M) district committee that was convened on Friday. Rajendran is the  second-year BSc Mathematics student of the All Saints College.

Rajendran said she is the happiest person to accept the offer.

Senior party leader Jameela Sreedharan and two others were also in the running, but the party chose a young leader over them.

Arya is a state committee member of the Student Federation of India. She is also the state president of the Balasangham.

Worthwhile to mention that the local body polls in Kerala witnessed a large number of youngsters contesting for Gram Panchayat, District Panchayat and block panchayat wards.
