Nabarangpur: Armed miscreants looted a house at Kurshi village under Umerkote police limits of Nabarangpur district last night and made away with a huge bounty.
According to information, the miscreants entered into the house of one Birju Sahu late last night and tied him up to the cot. They then threatened his wife Sarita with sharp weapons and putting Birju at gunpoint.
In order to save her husband, Sarita handed them over Rs 6 lakhs, which they had earned from selling maize and paddy crops, and ornament worth around Rs 2.5 lakh. After laying their hands over the money and jewellery, the miscreants tied up Sarita also.
The looters also tried to steal their new bike but failed to do so as the door was locked. So the miscreants cut off the plug wire of the motorcycle and drained out 5 litres of petrol before fleeing from the spot.
After a brief struggle, Sarita managed to untie herself and then her husband. The couple then came out of the house through the terrace as the miscreants had locked the door from outside and narrated their ordeal before the fellow villagers.
The victims have claimed that the miscreants made away with Rs.6 lakhs cash, jewellery, two mobile phones by threatening them with guns and sharp weapons.
