Bhubaneswar: This year, the 4th Armed Forces Veterans day commenced with a homage ceremony at 120 Infantry Battalion here on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was the special guest at the ceremony.
On the occasion, the Odisha CM conveyed his best wishes to the extraordinary community which has rendered selfless service to the nation at the prime of their age.
“All through their glorious period of service, they made many sacrifices for ensuring nation’s sovereignty and integrity,” the CM said.
He further stated that “Veteran community continue to extend their services to society both in individual as well as in organisational capacities which is commendable. You are a repository of highly skilled people in diverse fields, which the Government is determined to make use of. I appeal the Veterans to take advantage of various schemes being offered by the Government of Odisha to be able to contribute to society as well as make their own lives better. On this occasion, I also commend the contributions of 120 Infantry Battalion for the extraordinary relief work done in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani.”
“I once again convey my warm greetings to all the Veterans as well as soldiers, parents here, and wish their wellbeing as well as of their families. The Government of Odisha is committed for the welfare of the Ex-Servicemen, and make use of their rich potential in the service of the Nation”.
At the outset Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the martyrs memorial. The Chief Minister also felicitated widows of veterans on this occasion.
