Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup inaugural ceremony, Music maestro AR Rahman arrived in the temple city on Friday and met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
According to sources, the Oscar-winning musician reached Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) and was escorted to the Naveen Niwas amid tight security, where he visited Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Rahman and the CM discussed music and particularly digitisation of traditional and tribal music. Patnaik praised Rahman for his landmark creations like Jai ho and Bandey Mataram and suggested him to visit the Tribal Museum in Bhubaneswar.
Rahman also spoke highly of the Bhubaneswar and thanked the CM for hosting this prestigious hockey tournament in the capital city.
During the brief meet, the music maestro released the theme song of Hockey World Cup ‘Jai Hind Hind’ along with the CM.

The song has been written by Gulzar and is based on a nationalistic theme. The anthem reflects sports, unity, and inspiration, added Rahman. Rahman further informed that he would be performing four to five songs during the inaugural ceremony of the Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on November 27.
Addressing to the press the CM stated that “I am delighted that AR Rahman visited Odisha and the fans can watch him performing live at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.”
Rahman who returned to Mumbai today will again come to the State Capital on November 27.
The Oscar-winning music composer will also perform at Hockey World Cup celebration scheduled at Barabati stadium in Cuttack on November 28.
