Anup Sai’s family urges Jharsuguda Collector to protect them from Chhattisgarh cops


Jharsuguda: Family members of arrested ex-Brajrajnagar MLA Anup Sai, the main accused in the 2016 double murder case, have staged a dharna before the District Collector’s office on Saturday evening.

The entire family members of Sai said they have resorted to dharna after being harassed by Chhattisgarh police. They alleged that the Chhattisgarh police are trying to round them up at night and threatening them with dire consequences.

Those who are on dharna in front of the District Collector’s office here are Sai’s elder brother Pramod Sai, nephew Sangram Sai, son Subham Sai, daughter Subhasmita Sai, sister-in-law Gitanjali Sai, wife Sushama Dev, and mother Hemalata Sai.

The family members said they had no alternative than to stage dharna as they are fearing for their lives. Pramod Sai threatened to take poison if they are not protected from Chhattisgarh police. He said the family’s reputation has already tarnished due to the machination of Chhattisgarh police and added they would not tolerate the harassment any further.

Anup’s wife Sushama alleged that they were implicated in a false case. Pramod questioned the timing of the case and said why a case of 2016 has been reopened.
