Cuttack: The SCB Medical College & Hospital and Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) in the city will take up antigen test of patients to combat coronavirus.
This is being done under the direction of Odisha government in view of the rising number of COVID-19 patients. The tests will be conducted from next week.
The new admissions will be done after the COVID test of all admitted patients. Patients are advised not to visit the hospital and OPD unless there is an emergency. The hospitals will be disinfection in a phased manner.
Reports said the decision was taken at a high-level meeting, presided over by Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Pradipta Mahapatra, here on Sunday.
Jayant Panda, the technical spokesperson of the Health and Family Welfare Department, said that patients will be advised not to visit the outpatient department (OPD) of these hospitals during the shutdown period till July 8, unless there is an urgent need.
The officials said sanitization of the two hospitals will be taken up in phases during the period of shutdown.
Panda said new patients will be admitted only after conducting coronavirus test of all in-patients. The antigen test of all critical patients will begin next week, he added.
