Bhubaneswar District Court faced a bomb threat on Thursday after officials received an anonymous email warning that explosives had been planted inside the court premises.
Commissionerate Police immediately evacuated lawyers, staff, litigants, and visitors, enforcing strict security measures at all entry points.
Bomb disposal squad, dog squad, and forensic teams rushed to the site and began a thorough search of chambers, halls, and surrounding areas using metal detectors and sniffer dogs. Preliminary checks revealed no suspicious objects, but police confirmed that searches would continue until the premises were fully cleared.
The threat disrupted all court proceedings for the day, leaving lawyers and litigants concerned. Legal professionals described the incident as alarming, noting that repeated threats in recent months have raised serious questions about court security.
Cyber Cell investigators have started tracing the origin of the threatening email to identify the sender. Police sources recalled similar hoax threats earlier this year targeting courts in Cuttack, Puri, Keonjhar, Phulbani, and Sambalpur. While those proved false, authorities stressed that every threat must be treated seriously to ensure public safety.
