Ankita Raina wins bronze in 18th Asian Games


Jakarta: Ankita Raina clinched bronze in women’s singles tennis semi-final on the fifth day of the 18th Asian Games, here on Thursday.

Raina settled for bronze after going down in the fight with China’s Zhang Shui in the semifinal match. Raina lost the match with the set score of 4-6, 6-7 (6) in a contest that lasted a little over two hours.

With this, Raina became the second Indian woman to register her name at the Asian Games’ single’s medalist list.

Earlier, Sania Mirza slashed up a silver in the 2006 edition in Doha, followed by a bronze in 2010 in Guangzhou.
