Amitabh Bachchan donates Rs 51 lakh for Assam floods victims


Guwahati: As floods wreaking havoc in Assam, Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan contributed Rs 51 lakhs to the people affected by the natural disaster.

Amitabh Bachchan has joined the celebrities who have come forward to help people affected by Assam floods. The Superstar also urged his followers to contribute generously to Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.



Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal took to Twitter to thank Bachchan for his contribution.



Earlier, Akshay Kumar donated Rs 1 crore each to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Kaziranga National Park as an aid for Assam floods. Sprinter Hima Das, who is on a gold-winning spree these days, had also announced that she has donated half of her month’s salary to the relief fund.

According to the latest reports, the death toll in Bihar and Assam floods has mounted to 174. Around 1.09 crore people have been affected by the calamity in the two states. Reports say over 10 lakh animals have also been affected. Almost 90 per cent of the Kaziranga National Park was submerged.
