New Delhi: The BCCI-proposed one-off all-star match that was meant to preface IPL 2020 will now be played after the tournament.
The delay in the one-off all-star match was said to be due to operational reasons. The final date or venue for the match has not been decided yet.
The match was originally scheduled to be played three days before the IPL, which begins on March 29, but due to operational reasons it is now set to be played after the tournament which ends on May 24.
IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the development, saying the two teams for the game would be picked based on the performances of the players in the tournament.
The all-star match was originally proposed by the Patel and found support from the BCCI. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had announced last month that an IPL All-Star game will take place for charity purpose.
The IPL 2020 will kick off with the opener to be played between last editions two finalists Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
