Album Actress Simran’s Death: Family Members Demand CBI Probe
Sambalpur: Nearly a month has passed since Simran Singh, a popular face of Sambalpuri albums, was found dead, the police is yet to arrest all the persons involved in the case.
Reportedly, the family members of deceased actress Simran have staged a dharna in front of Jharsuguda Collectorate demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
When asked, the family members alleged that FIR was made against Simran’s husband Dhrubaraj Suna, his mother and uncle Ruku Suna. However, police have arrested only her husband and the two others are yet to be arrested.
Demanding an impartial investigation of the case, Simran’s family members have urged the district administration to take necessary steps. They have also demanded compensation for their loss, said a source.
On the other hand, Simran’s accused husband was taken on three-day remand by Sambalpur police from Jan 27 to 29 for further interrogation in the case.
Notably, the 20-year-old album artist was found dead under a bridge of Mahanadi river near Goira Matha under Mahanadi Bridge on January 3.
Bolangir’s Belapada police on January 4 arrested Simran’s husband, Dhrubaraj Suna alias Yug, on the basis of the complaint filed the former’s mother. The police had registered a case (56/18) under Sections 366 & 376 of the IPC and Section 3 of the POCSO Act.
