Mumbai: Ajay Devgn’s upcoming flick, based on the legendary former football player Syed Abdul Rahim, has been titled as Maidaan.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced the title of the movie on his Twitter handle today.

Helmed by director Amit Sharma, the film is based on the legendary former player Syed Abdul Rahim, who was also Indian national football team’s coach and manager from 1950 until his death in 1963.
Under his leadership, India became the first Asian country to reach the semi-finals of the Olympic Football tournament in Melbourne in 1956. Rahim also coached the Indian team to victory in the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962, and the Jakarta games in 1962. He died on June 11, 1963.
The film will chronicle a certain time period from 1951 and 1962 which was considered as India’s golden age in football.
The sports drama will be produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Joy Sengupta. Saiwayn Quadras (Mary Kom, Neerja) will collaborate with Ritesh Shah (D-Day, Airlift) to write the screenplay and dialogue.
