After Ghulam Nabi Azad, Five More J&K Party Leaders Resign

New Delhi: Hours after senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from all posts of the party, five other party leaders, including former legislators, in Jammu and Kashmir have also quit. A joint letter in this regard was also issued by the leaders.

According to reports, Jammu and Kashmir Congress leaders Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Amin Bhatt, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Chaudhary Akram Mohammad and Salman Nizami have resigned from primary membership of the party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Earlier, in the day, Ghulam Nabi Azad tendered his resignation letter to Congress interim chief, Sonia Gandhi.

Recounting his long association with the Indian National Congress, he listed a number of reasons for his decision including Rahul Gandhi’s sudden move to quit as party president after 2019 elections.

The former leader also said that he will go to Jammu and Kashmir and form his own party in the state. He will check on the national possibility later.
