Bhubaneswar: An advanced cardiac centre was inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Das at Capital Hospital here on Monday.
The unit is being headed by eminent cardiologist Prabhat Kumar Dash.
After the inauguration of the centre, Naba Das informed that patients suffering from heart-related ailments can avail treatment at Capital Hospital free of cost.
Earlier, owing to the lack of cardiac centre in the state patients used to visit cities like Bangalore and Delhi for treatment. Now, onwards patients will be treated in the state, Das added.
Besides, the Minister also claimed that the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar will have a Cardiac Centre of Excellence soon.
Dr Dash, who heads the department, has about 30 years of experience in cardiac surgery and treatment. He has joined the hospital after leaving an earlier assignment as HoD, Cardiology Department of Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bangalore.
Dash was nominated for the “Outstanding Health Professional Worldwide” Award in 2007 and won the Rashtriya Rattan Award in 2008 for his contribution to the field of medicine in India.
Moreover, Das has successfully treated 11000 patients so far. His various studies, articles is published in national and international journals.
