Cuttack: Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials on Thursday destroyed tonnes of adulterated ghee after busting various fake manufacturing and sale of adulterated food items units in the city.
Police have also arrested six persons from Malgodown and Chauliaganj in this connection.
The adulterated ghee was seized following multiple raids in the town recently. The ghee estimate of Rs 10 lakh was destroyed by the CMC officials and Commissionerate Police near Sikharpur Gurudwara.
According to an official, the ghee was being sold under the brand names of Balaji and Durga ghee, The packets contained messages ‘not for human consumption and were being sold without the mandatory 14 digit FSSAI code.
