Aditya Prasad Padhi Assumes Charge As State Election Commissioner


Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Secretary of Odisha, Aditya Prasad Padhi today took over the charge of State Election Commissioner (SEC) followed by a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle last week.

Replacing former SEC Naba Kumar Nayak, Padhi assumed the charge as the seventh Election Commissioner of the State. The recommendation of Padhi’s name for the constitutional post has been approved by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal.

Speaking to media persons after taking over the new task Padhi said, “I will ensure smooth conduct of the upcoming civic body & panchayat polls in the state,”.

Besides, former SEC Naba Kumar Nayak has informed that though all the arrangements have been completed for the upcoming civic body & panchayat polls in the state due to some legal issues the dates of the polls are yet to be finalised.

It is worth mentioning here that Aditya Prasad Padhi, a 1983-batch IAS officer, is due to retire in February 2020.
