Mumbai: Marathi actor and filmmaker Adinath Kothare has been roped in to play Dilip Vengsarkar in Kabir Khan’s sports biopic 83.
The movie will also mark Adinath’s Bollywood debut where he will be seen as the ace batsman, who couldn’t play the finals following an injury on the field while facing a bouncer by Malcolm Marshall.
Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on his Twitter handle.

The Ranveer Singh starrer biopic ’83 will also star Ammy Virk, Hardy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Jiiva, Sahil Khattar, Saqib Saleem and Tahir Raj Bhasin.
The film revolving around India’s first ever cricket World Cup win will be revisited in the form of this period-meets-sports drama.
The Kabir Khan directorial is based on ICC Cricket Hall of Famer Kapil Dev, who captained the Indian cricket team to victory in the 1983 World Cup.
