Add’l Veterinary Asst Surgeon Held For Taking Bribe


Puri: Vigilance department on Monday caught an Additional Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Kanasa, Puri red- handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5000.

The accused has been identified as Dr. Sagar Kumar Samal.

According to sources, Samal had demanded Rs 5000 from one Bipin Kumar Mangaraj of Kankapur area for passing bill amounting Rs 1,00,000 (One Lakh) and recommending another amount of Rs 70,000 towards damaged poultry firm during “Fani”.

Following this, the victim approached the vigilance department and lodged a complaint. Based on the plaint, the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and arrested the accused red-handed while accepting the gratification.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant Sections of the IPC. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
