Absconding murder accused held, forwarded to court in Ganjam
Ganjam: A murder accused, who was on the run after beating an elderly man to death over a petty issue, was nabbed by Hinjili police from Berhampur last night and forwarded to court on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Kamana Gouda (50) of Belagaon village under Hinjini police limits in Ganjam district was absconding after attacking Bhaskar, who happens to be his neighbour.
Reportedly, the incident took place when Kamna thrashed Bhaskar mercilessly for felling a tree. Though Bhaskar was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
Later, the deceased’s son lodged a complaint with Hinjili police regarding the incident demanding the arrested if the accused, and a probe launched.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Kamna in Berhampur, the cops conducted a raid in the city and nabbed the accused late last night. Kamna has been forwarded to court today, the police said.
