Cuttack: 1986-batch IPS officer Abhay assumed the charge as Director General of Police (DGP) and head of police force in Odisha.
The senior police officer Abhay arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) this afternoon and left for the Odisha State Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
Abhay took charge from the DGP In-charge Satyajit Mohanty at a ceremonial function held here this evening. He was accorded a guard of honour before assuming office as the new DGP of Odisha. Top officials of Odisha Police were present at the event.
Soon after taking the new charge, DGP Abhay informed media persons about his top priorities, which are;
- To ensure effective implementation of Mo Sarkar programme and 5T initiative in policing.
- Offences against women and weaker sections to remain in the focus with best investigation and fast conviction
- Working towards containing and controlling Naxal situation in Odisha
- Organised crime or operation of mafias to be monitored and fully controlled
Abhay was appointed as Odisha DGP on November 21 this year. Prior to his posting, he was serving as the Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
