Sundergarh: An abandoned newborn baby boy was rescued from the Ranibandh canal in Rajgangpur of Sundergarh district on Monday.
The infant, believed to be one and a half months old, was rescued by one Rasmi Rani Nayak. Rashmi was passing by the area when she heard the baby crying. She thought that somebody had left the baby and gone to attend nature’s call. However, she could not found anyone nearby.
When no one showed up, Rashmi rescued the baby and informed the police.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and launched a probe in this regard while informing the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
Later, the CWC workers reached the spot around 3 pm and took the baby into their custody.
