AAP volunteer killed in attack, newly elected MLA escapes unhurt in Delhi

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) volunteer was shot dead after some unidentified miscreants opened fire at AAP MLA Naresh Yadav’s convoy in southwest Delhi’s Kishangarh village late on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Ashok Mann.

The newly-elected MLA along with his supporters was returning home after paying obeisance at a temple in his constituency. Meanwhile, some miscreants opened eight rounds of bullets at an open car of the party’s Mehrauli MLA Naresh Yadav.

While the MLA escaped unhurt, Ashok Mann and Harender sustained bullet injuries.

They were immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital. However, Mann succumbed to his injuries while Harender is undergoing treatment.

Police said the prime suspect in the case has been held.

The attack was the outcome of personal enmity, and Ashok was the only target. In November, an FIR was registered against Ashok under IPC Section for attempt to murder. The attack could be related to it, police sources said. They were verifying other details in the case,  Ingit Pratap Singh, ADCP (South West) said.

Singh added that an FIR under IPC for murder and attempt to murder was registered in Kishangarh Police station.
