Gandalpada: Tata Steel BSL has dedicated a mobile primary health care unit in Gandalpada village under Guali panchayat in Joda Block of Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
Guali Panchayat Sarpanch, Padmabati Naik, and Panchayat Samiti Member, Bimala Naik, formally flagged off the mobile health care unit. The village leader Jharia Munda, Sanjay Sardar, Unit head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Tata Steel BSL and Dipak Mahanta, field coordinator of the department were also present on the occasion.
Launched as part of the steel major’s CSR initiatives, the mobile unit is expected to benefit more than 2000 local residents. The unit, manned by a doctor, pharmacist and nurse, will provide primary health care services and will visit the village as per the prescribed schedule to provide health care at the doorsteps of the villagers and spread awareness about preventive measures for various diseases.
In January, the unit had started providing service in the adjoining villages of Kanu Sahi and Kalmang reaching out to around 2000 residents of the villages. Slowly it will also to be extended to other nearby villages.
