Bhubaneswar: While the second wave of coronavirus is gripping the State, as many as 96 inmates of Jharapada jail tested Covid-19 positive here.

All the infected prisoners are undergoing treatment in eight isolation cells inside the jail.

Sources said, Jharapada jail authorities conducted Covid test of 195 inmates on May 18 after 11 employees of it tested Corona positive few days ago. Test results of 96 prisoners came positive out of them.

While the medical officer of the jail has been taking care of the infected patients, a team of doctor and paramedical staff are taking their intensive care while the serious ones are to be referred to the Covid hospital.

On the other hand, sanitation and sanitization work inside the jail has been intensified.
