75 middlemen arrested in Odisha today; cops to continue special drives
Cuttack: As many as 75 middlemen have been arrested today from 16 districts of Odisha in the special drives against brokers at different hospitals, medical colleges, blood banks, dispensaries, and regional transport offices.
The special drives against “dalals” are underway across the state in compliance with the direction of Director General of Police (DGP) Bijay Kumar Sharma.
The Odisha DGP has further instructed the Superintendents of Police (SPs) and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCPs) to register specific cases against the middlemen/dalals and arrest them, who are found cheating people in the hospitals and transport offices.
According to a press note issued by the Odisha Police State Headquarters, 75 middlemen and dalals have been arrested on Friday (Sept 27).

As per reports, investigation of these cases shall focus on establishing linkages of middlemen with others including owners of nursing homes, diagnostic centres, health officials, Transport operators, and Transport officials etc, so that appropriate legal action can be taken against them.
DGP BK Sharma has further directed that the drive against middlemen/dalals shall continue on a daily basis under the direct supervision of SPs and DCPs. They have been directed to submit the Situation Report (SITREP) on a daily basis regarding action taken in different districts.
