73% COVID-19 positives in City are in home isolation: BMC Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: Around 73% COVID-19 positives in Bhubaneswar are in Home Isolation, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Friday.

Addressing the media, Chaudhary said: “Although testing has been increased, there is no increase in the number of cases. The cases are on a decreasing trend in the past week and the trend is likely to improve in the next 7 days.”

The BMC Commissioner said that Bhubaneswar is experiencing a plateau with 300 to 400 COVID-19 cases being reported daily despite an increase in tests (4000 to 4500)  in the past one week.

He added that the capital city has a recovery rate of 74 per cent and the situation will improve further in the coming days.

The civic body Commissioner said the Helpline no 1929 has been opened round-the-clock for the last 15 days. Active surveillance is being carried out in 20 non-slum areas by 210 teams.

He further added that there are five zonal squads to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines in market places every evening.
