Jharsuguda: A 63-year-old man, Abhiram Satpathy, has embarked upon a novel task of running 425 km from Jharsuguda to Puri to spread awareness against alcoholism.
He said the purpose of his mission is also to spread awareness on physical exercises to remain fit as long as one lives.
Satpathy has submitted his health report on blood pressure and other details to the District Collector for getting the nod from him to undertake the mission.
Satpathy has said he will cover nearly 35 km every day and take rest in between to cover the distance. He is scheduled to start his mission on January 6 from Jharsuguda airport. He will run through Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Khurda to reach Puri on January 22.
Satpathy is a retired employee of OPTCL and runs nearly 25 km every day. He said he is fit and fine. Satpathy said he was previously affected with asthma but after doing regular exercises he is now fit and his complications are over.
