5T Secy Reviews Progress Of Baramunda ISBT, Directs To Complete Work By July 2023

Bhubaneswar: On the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Secretary VK Pandian today afternoon reviewed the progress of work for the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar.

After reaching the site, Pandian watched a video presentation of the entire construction work. The review revealed that 85 percent of the project has been completed. It is reported that the civil works will be completed by the end of June. Further, Mr Pandian directed to complete the entire construction work by July 2023.

It is worth noting that Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda in Bhubaneswar is Odisha’s first global transit system. It has a capacity to facilitate plying of 2000 buses per day with all other modern facilities. The development of the bus terminal under the 5T initiative is underway to facilitate the passengers a convenient and hassle-free experience

The terminal is being built on an area of 11 acres at a cost of Rs 180 crore, while there is another 4 acres of land for expansion in the future. It will have a food court, Excavator, Elevator, ample car parking facility, Pick-Up and Drop-Off facility for passengers. Along with this, there will also be facilities for prepaid auto-rickshaws, taxis, and taxi aggregators like Ola, Uber etc.

The Baramunda ISBT will be powered by solar energy. It will also have Wi-Fi and waste water treatment system. Aahar Plus center will also be set up there for the convenience of passengers. Steps will also be taken for the relocation of the vendors who have been displaced for the transformation of the bus terminal.

From Baramunda ISBT, buses will be operated to many important places in the country including Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.

During this review, Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, BDA Vice Chairman Balabant Singh, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, Bhubaneswar DCP Mr. Prateek Singh were present.
