5-year-old boy loses life as City traffics “halts” ambulance


Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old boy lost his life after the ambulance he was being carried in allegedly got stuck in the massive traffic jam in Bhubaneswar.

The ill-fated incident took place in the state capital Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Reportedly, the minor boy, son of Nirod Nayak, who complained of vomiting was being rushed to a private hospital in Patia. Though Capital hospital had referred the patient to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, the boy’s parents decided to admit him to a private hospital.

However, he lost his life on the way to hospital after the ambulance, in which he was being taken, got stuck in the traffic jams at various junctions along the route to Patia following which the emergency vehicle reached the hospital after over an hour, the deceased’s relatives claimed.

Vehicular movement on the road connecting Patia had come to standstill due to excessive traffic congestion on the route.
