31st UPSC rank holder Simi Karan prefers to work for women empowerment
Balasore: The entire Santoshpur village in Balasore district is bustling with merrymaking after Simi Karan secured the 31st rank in the UPSC Examination on Wednesday. She has cleared the prestigious Civil Service exam in the first chance.
Simi, daughter of Debendranath Karan, is a meritorious student right from her school days. Her father works as the general manager in Bhilai steel plant in Chhattisgarh.
Simi was doing B Tech from Mumbai IIT after completing Plus II. She appeared prelims of UPSC in May 2019 and went to Delhi to take coaching for three months.
Simi has credited her parents, grandpa grandma for the resounding success in UPSC. She has also expressed her deep gratitude to Jaleswar MLA Ashwini Patra and retired police officer Abani Patra through video.
She said she would prefer to work in the fields women empowerment and education, but added that she will never dodge any responsibility given to her by the government to serve the people.
Simi advised the future aspirants of the UPSC to labour hard with confidence. Her mother is a teacher with DPS in Chhattisgarh.
