30 bonded labourers rescued while being trafficked to Tamil Nadu


Nabarangpur: Police have rescued as many as 30 bonded labourers from Umerkote in Nabarangpur district while they were being trafficked to Tamil Nadu late last night.

Reportedly, all the labourers have been identified as residents of Kanda village in Chhattisgarh.

Acting on reliable inputs about the migration of the labourers, a police team intercepted a bus en route to Vishakhapatnam and rescued the labourers. Besides, police have also detained two middlemen in this connection.

They were being trafficked to Vishakhapatnam from Chhattisgrah in a bus. 

All the rescued labourers have been handed over to the labour department while further investigation in this connection is on, a police official said.
