Nabarangpur: A three-month-old bear cub has been rescued by the residents of Kharakiguda village under Tentulikhunti block in Nabarangpur district today.
According to the sources, on Tiki Sual of the village had gone to attend nature’s call this morning when she spotted stray dogs chasing the bear cub. She, however, rescued the baby bear with the help of other villagers.
On intimation, a 15-member team of Nabarangpur Forest division reached the village and rescued the bear cub. Meanwhile, the forest officers have launched a search to trace the baby bear’s mother, who got separated after a pack of dogs chased them.
When asked, forest officials said that search is underway to trace the mother bear. The cub will be released into the wild after its mother is traced.
“In case, we don’t find the mother bear, necessary arrangements will be made to take care of the cub,” said a forest official.
