29 Odisha cops to receive Police Medals on I-Day


Bhubaneswar: As many as 29 police personnel from Odisha will be awarded prestigious Police Medals on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday, a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

While 11 police officers will be honoured with Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), four personnel will be awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS). Besides, 14 police personnel will get the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS).

SP Saroj Kumar Rath, ASP Gyanaranjan Mohanty, ASPM Radha Krushna and Sub Inspector Ramesh Chandra Nayak will receive the medal for their distinguished service from the President.

ASP Niranjan Sahu, ASP Umesh Ku Singh, constable Haribandhu Kirsani, Bhishma Karua, Samanta Majhi, Rakesh Swain, Ajay Behera, sergeant Jyoti Kumar Kiro, deputy subedar Soumyaranjan Dash, constable Dhaneswar Majhi and havildar Uktapriya Sahu will receive the award for their bravery.

Fourteen personnel who will receive medals for administrative service are Comando Udaya Kumar Rath of 8th battalion Chattrapur, Comando Jawahar Mohan Patel of 7th battalion, Comando Chandrasekhar Patra of 8th battalion, SP Tankadhar Pradhan, DSP (training) Bijoy Kumar Sahu, Radha Binod Panigrahi the SP of Crime Branch, DSP Uday Bhanu Mishra, DSP Brudaban Ghadei, DSP Saroj Kumar Samal, DSP Ravindra Panda, ASP Mohit Mallik, ASI Ravindra Acharya, Habildar Amiya Raut and constable Satyabadi Mallik.
