25 BYJD members fined Rs 1,000 each for violating helmet rule during bike rally

Bhubaneswar: Riding motorcycle without wearing helmet proved costly to 25 members of Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) as they had to pay Rs 1,000 each for violating the new MV rule.

It may be mentioned here that the conch party’s youth wing members went on a bike rally in the city on the 23rd foundation day of Biju Janata Dal on December 26.

The BYJD activists took out the bike rally from Station Square to the party office where they welcomed their party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. However, the netizens were quick to notice the traffic rule violations and many took to Twitter to question whether the Commissionerate Police will initiate any action against the violators.

Following the public ire on Twitter, the Commissionerate Police on December 28 had assured of actions against the violators after proper examination of video footages. “This being a problem in all political rallies in India, we’ve to devise ways for dealing with it in future,” the Commissionerate Police further said.
