Puri: Around 200 private buses will stay off the road across the Pilgrim town tomorrow as 12-hour bandh has been called by the private bus owner’s association here.
This was informed today at a press conference orgainsed by Sri Nilagiri Motor Employees’ Union.
The union has decided to halt bus services over the attack on a private bus driver following his succumbed to the fatal injuries.
Around 200 buses and 800 employees will be the part of the protest scheduled to be held tomorrow.
On Thursday, as many as 20 persons sustained injuries after a private bus named Sholapuama rammed into a tourist bus along the Puri-Konark Marine Drive road. Fumed over the incident, irate passengers thrashed the driver mercilessly.
The driver was admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Later, the helper of the bus lodged a complaint at Konark police station in this regard. As the police are delaying to lodge a case, the association decided to go on strike.
