Mumbai: In one of the biggest seizures of drugs, a container having more than 20 tonnes Of Licorice coated with Heroin was seized from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) or Nhava Sheva Port in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The total quantity of the seized heroin coated with Licorice weighing 22 tonnes is around 345 kgs. The value of the heroin drugs is around Rs 1,725 cr in the international market.
Licorice is a herb that grows in parts of Europe and Asia. Licorice root contains glycyrrhizin, which can cause side effects when eaten in large amounts.
