2 Killed, 3 Injured In Separate Road Mishaps

Balasore/Keonjhar: At least two persons were killed while three others of a family sustained critical injuries in two separate accidents in the state today.

The first incident was reported from Balasore district where two persons including a minor were killed after the motorcycle they were riding on collided head-on with a dumper on State Highway-57 near Satasulia Chhak in the district today.

The deceased have been identified as Kishore Das (16) and Swadhin Das (11) of Banida area under Jaleswar police limits.

According to reports, the duo was returning home on the motorcycle this morning around 8 am after buying a gift for a wedding ceremony when their vehicle collided head-on with a dumper.

The two sustained critical injuries and were rushed to a hospital by locals. However, doctors declared them brought dead.

Following the incident, irate locals staged a road blockade by burning tyres demanding compensation for the family of the deceased and construction of speed breaker at the spot.

In another incident, three members of a family sustained grievous injuries after a goods truck rammed into their house near Sathigahra Sahi under town police station limits in Keonjhar district late last night.

According to sources, a man, his wife, and their minor daughter were sleeping at home when a goods truck rammed into their house near Sathigahra Sahi.

The wall of the house collapsed and fell on Mahesh Patra, his wife, and their 7-year-old daughter injuring them grieviously.

They were rescued by locals and rushed to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

The house was severely damaged in the incident while the truck overturned after ramming into the house. Police have reached the spot and started an investigation.
