Mumbai: Odisha domiciled Sports Company, a very first multi-sports event management and sports training development business house of Odisha, have crossed the boundaries of the state and partnered with a formidable group “ The Collectives” of Mumbai.
Together with Mumbai Police the 1st Edition of Mumbai Police International Marathon was launched from Gateway of India on 9th February 2020. Approximately 17500 runners participated with 28 International Elite & 28 Indian Elite runners in different categories.
The event was graced by Aditya Balasaheb Thackeray ( Tourism Minister, Maharashtra ), Sunil Kedar ( Sports & Youth Affairs Minister – Maharashtra ) Subodh Jaiswal, DGP ( Maharashtra ) and a host of Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, Rohit Shetty, Farhan Akhtar, Suniel Shetty & Milind Soman.
“ The Collectives “ is a collective strength of Ex-CEO’s of international sporting & media houses and other sporting stalwarts who will be bringing a lot of international sports/ adventure sports events to India and Surge Sports is a resource partner to this illustrious group. Incidentally, the Co-Promoters Mahesh Ranka & Dillip Jayaram are also on the Core Advisory Board of Surge Sports. Together they are focusing on IRONMAN Triathlon 2020, World Dart Championship 2021, World Masters Athletics 2021 in India. Surge Sports would definitely promote Odisha as a destination for one of these mega-events provided the Government of Odisha supports the endeavor and shares the same enthusiasm to host any of it.
Surge Sports informed that they have signed up a long term partnership with Sporty Solutionz of New Delhi and are partnering with them for “ Asian Wrestling Championship “ which will take place in New Delhi from February 18th – 23rd, 2020. They have the Global Rights of United Wrestling World ( The International Wrestling Federation ). Surge Sports, CEO informed that they have already started talks with the Government of Maharashtra for hosting one event of Wrestling Bilateral Series out of 3 events in 2020, one of which again can be hosted in Odisha provided there is enthusiasm for the sport & event at the decision making level.
Surge Sports also informed that they are in talks with the Maharashtra Government for many other international events in the discipline of basketball, archery, boxing and wrestling, parallel sports events like Rural Olympics.
As a part of their grass root sports development planning for 2020, Surge Sports informed that they have tied up with an ace Olympian swimming star for multi-city Swim Clinics to be held throughout the country. Also, they have signed an MOU with a leading grass-root sports company of India based out of Mumbai to start structured school sports from the fresh academic session. Also, contracts have been drawn up for retaining India Tennis Star Somdev Debvarman for 4 boot camps annually to be held in Bhubaneswar in 2020.
