Bhubaneswar: The maximum day temperature soared to 40 °C or above at as many as 17 places in Odisha, informed the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre on Tuesday.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, mercury soared to 43.4 °C in Sambalpur followed by Jharsuguda 42.6 °C, Hirakud 42.6 °C, Sonepur 42.4 °C, and Boudh 42.2 °C.
Besides, the maximum day temperature at Rourkela was recorded at 41.2 °C, followed by Bargarh; Titilagarh; Baripada & Malkangiri at 41 °C each, Jajpur 40.9 °C, Talcher 40.8 °C, Bhawanipatna 40.5 °C, Angul 40.5 °C, Sundargarh 40.2 °C, Nuapada 40.1 °C, and Keonjhar 40 °C each.
The day temperature recorded in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack stood at 39.9 °C and 38.8 °C respectively.
