16 Maoists Surrender In Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada

Malkangiri: At least 16 Maoists surrendered in Dantewada districts of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, police informed on Friday.

As per available reports, three of the rebels also carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh each. Janmilitia Commanders Rajesh Bhaskar, Bheema Telaam and Budhram had rewards on their heads.

Reportedly, all of them were involved in illegal activities and have several cases lodged against them.

According to sources, the Naxals surrendered in presence of Dantewada SP Dr Abhisek Pallav, and other senior officials from CRPF and district police force.

Maoists are being asked to return to the mainstream under the initiative, called ‘lon varratu’ in the local Gondi dialect.

The state government also provides monetary relief under this rehabilitation scheme.
