Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in Odisha, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay informed that a total of 14 contingents will take part in the state-level R-day parade in Bhubaneswar.
Meanwhile, school students will miss out the state-level parade this year due to the restrictions induced because of coronavirus pandemic.
On the other hand, 25 platoons of force will be deployed along Gandhi Marg.
While talking to the media, the DGP also urged Maoists to abjure violence and join the mainstream.
Keeping in mind the Covid-19 situation, the Republic Day celebrations will be a low-key affair in the state as the state government has discouraged large gatherings and the participation of general public or school students in events.
Sources said there won’t be any cultural programmes or tableau at the state or district-level celebrations.
