Ganjam: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly slashed the throat of his 12-year-old niece at Banapalli village under Balipadar police limits of Ganjam district today.
According to sources, the incident took place when a verbal duel broke out between two families over a feud. However, the situation turned ugly after the accused person allegedly attacked the minor girl with a sharp weapon.
The victim sustained a deep cut on her throat and was rushed her to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. She was later shifted to MKCG Medical College & Hospital as her condition worsened.
On being informed the local police reached the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
