1000 kg of explosives seized by Kolkata STF, two from Odisha held


Kolkata: West Bengal Special Task Force today seized around 1000 kgs of explosives near the Tala Bridge in the Chitpur Police Station area of north Kolkata. Both the driver and a helper have been arrested.

The accused persons have been identified as Indrajit Bhui (25) and Padmolochon Dey(31). While Indrajit hail from Melak village under Basta block of Balasore, Padmolochon hail from Mithani village of the same block.

Acting on reliable information, Special Task Force intercepted the Matador (Tata – 407) near the Tala Bridge. During the search, cops recovered about 1000 kgs of explosive substances (Potassium Nitrate) contained in 27 gunny bags.

According to police, the vehicle was en route to North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal from Odisha.

While the accused duo is in police custody, a detailed probe into the incident is underway, sources in the police informed.
