10 more cobras rescued from another village in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: Panic gripped in Jaynagar area in Dhamnagar block of Bhadrak district after at least 10 cobras were rescued from the house of one Gouranja Jena of Kantabania Sahi village this morning.

Gouranga’s son spotted two snakes in his house this morning, following which the family members conducted a search operation and other eight snakes were found crawling in the house.

They rescued the snakes and called up the snake helpline members putting them in an earthen pot.

Locals in large numbers gathered near the village to see the snakes soon after the news spread.

The incident comes a day after a two-day long snake rescue operation ended yesterday in a nearby village in the area in which 129 snakes – 126 baby cobras,  one male and two female cobras – were rescued by the snake helpline members.

The snakes were rescued from a termite mound inside the house of one Bijay Bhuyan at Paika Sahi in Shyamsundarpur village under Dhamnagar police station limits in the district.
