1 million coronavirus cases worldwide in few days: WHO

Geneva: The World Health Organization has said it was concerned about “rapid escalation” and global spread of Covid-19 pandemic.

The WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual news conference that “The number of deaths has more than doubled in the past week… in the next few days we will reach one million confirmed cases and 50,000 deaths”.

The coronavirus pandemic has ravaged the world economy and most countries have restored to austerity measures and this will continue in the days to come, media reports said.
