Berhampur: Police recovered the body of a youth from a grazing land at Nuanagardiha area under Chamakhandi police limits in Ganjam district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as B. Enkka Reddy of Sitalapalli village under Gopalpur police limits.
The police seized a blood-stained stone, a mobile phone and a pair of shoe from the spot. Reddy, a mason by profession, reportedly went missing on Saturday evening.
The police suspect Reddy was bludgeoned to death as there were several fatal injury marks on his head. “The murder could be the fall out of a past enmity,” police said.
Gopalpur inspector-in-charge Sushant Kumar Sahu and Chamakhandi inspector-in-charge along with a scientific team reached the crime scene and launched a probe. The probe team collected blood-soaked soil samples from the spot.
According to the preliminary investigation, Reddy had served jail terms in connection with a murder case in 2014.
On the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased’s kin, police registered a case (66/2018) and sent the body to MKCG Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
