Buenos Aires: Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen settled for a silver medal after he lost to Li Shifeng of China with 15-21 19-21 in straight games of the men’s singles summit clash in the Youth Olympic. This was India’s fourth silver along with three gold in the ongoing sports event.
Sen made a fine recovery to narrow down the gap to 13-16 after first set, in which the Chinese player took an early lead to 14-5. However, Sen could not sustain the first set and Shifeng went ahead 18-13 making it 20-14 to have six game points.
In the second set, Shifeng was ahead 8-7 initially but the gap widened to 12-7 before Sen made it 11-14. Sen by winning three straight points made an effort to win the game but the Chinese player made it 20-17 to have three match points.
Sen reeled off two straight points to 19-20 but the Chinese won the final point to clinch the yellow metal.
Earlier, Sen had beaten Shifeng in straight games in the quarterfinals of the Asian Championships in July.
